Job Description:
The Diversity Coordinator, under the general direction of the Diversity Manager assists in coordinating planning, implementation, evaluation and enhancement of the firm's diversity program. Will assist the Diversity Manager in identifying opportunities and develop new strategies for hiring and retaining attorneys from traditionally underrepresented groups. Works closely with the chairs of the Diversity Committee, Women's Forum, GLBT Forum, Associates of Color, Hiring Committee and other firm leaders.  
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  
Responsible for the support and administration required to execute the firm's diversity initiative successfully.  
Plans, organizes and coordinates the development and implementation of diversity programs, projects and activities to meet the mission and strategic goals of the firm's diversity program.  
Schedules and coordinates all Diversity Committee meetings.  
Works with the Marketing staff on coordinating communication of the firm's diversity activities and initiatives on the firm's website, intranet and other publications.  
Provides support to the firm's affinity groups (Women's Forum, GLBT Forum, Associates of Color group), including but not limited to scheduling affinity group meetings, events and programs.  
Responsible for coordinating event details for diversity functions, such as firm receptions, lunches and meetings.  
Generates reports of diversity information as requested by clients, colleagues, and other organizations.  
Collaborates with Legal Recruiting in the recruitment of law students and lawyers of different minority backgrounds. This may include attending diversity recruitment events.  
Assists in managing responses and gathering data for diversity inquiries in RFPs and client diversity surveys.  
Updates and maintains accurate information for Women's Forum mentoring circles (members, locations, events, email groups, budget).

Assists Diversity Manager in partnering with Professional Development on staffing, training and work assignment issues as they relate to lawyers in minority groups  
Assists and provides information and planning support to the Diversity Manager on diversity program priorities and issues.  
Responsible for updating and maintaining accurate information for mentoring programs, committee membership and program budgets.  
Serves as a liaison between the firm's Diversity Committee and outside organizations, including reviewing requests for sponsorships, firm contributions, and other requests for financial support from the Committee.  
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Additional Information:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:  
Bachelor's degree. Law firm or professional services experience preferred. Understanding of and familiarity with the diverse practice areas within a large law firm. Excellent communication skills, ability to think creatively, take initiative, plan and help execute complex projects. Must be able to set goals and take responsibility for achieving them. Must be able to work effectively and seamlessly with other staff departments and the attorneys at the firm. Proficiency in the use of computer programs including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
